The detailed study of the karstic aquifers and of the surface and
subterranean environments of some zones of Guizhou was the main aim
of the expedition.
The analyses of the water quality, evaluated by monitoring chemico-physico
and biological parameters, were indispensable for these areas where
the subterranean waters are the main source of potable water supply.
A
study of the fauna present in the interior and exterior of the cavities
allowed the faunistic diversity to be evaluated, also in relation
to the state of conservation of different environments. The processing
of the data collected, together with the charts produced during the
research, will allow a useful tool to be provided for the protection
and the evaluation of the hypogean environments and the surface and
subterranean water resources. Thus, also allowing a more correct management
of the environmental resources and local economy to be planned.
